GM may close 500 dealerships this year
According to Bloomberg, GM has a goal of cutting 1,700 dealerships by 2012. As auto sales plummet, the company has no choice but to close up shops. The Durham, NC GM Cadillac dealership has recently consolidated with the Durham Chevrolet.
GM May Want Another Bailout in March 2009
GM’s CEO Rick Wagoner announced that while GM has funds to continue through March 2009 due to the loans granted to it by the US and Canadian federal governments, GM may want to seek another federal bailout at that time.
Detroit Auto Show Subdued This Year
It’s usually a premiere showcase for concept vehicles– cars that drive sideways and other amazing vehicle feats that will most likely never see a showroom floor.
